About us

The Worship Foundation “Opera Fides Intrepida” Casa Cardinal Piazza was founded in November 1962, when Cardinal Giovanni Urbani was the Patriarch of Venice. Since its beginning, it was decided that the adjacent Minelli and Contarini palaces would provide hospitality that included meditation and spiritual activities for people of different nationalities wishing to stay in Venice.

the accommodation includes 24 rooms, all with private facilities, air conditioning and Wi-Fi service. For activities, several rooms of various sizes as well as a beautiful garden are available; also there is a dining hall for large groups and a charming chapel enriched with a beautiful altar dated from about 1525 by the famous sculptor Gianmaria Moscow. This work, originally intended for the Convent of the Virgin Church again in Venice, was discovered by Anne Markham Schulz, a board member of Venetian Heritage.

The “Care Home for the elderly” Casa Cardinal Piazza (a long-established institution in the city, which started its activities in 1962) is well known in Venice for providing services to older people. La Casa is in a high class central residential home with a friendly atmosphere and socialization, in a word “familiarity”, which maintains and develops a personal and human relationship with and among the guests.

Casa Cardinal Piazza is the location of “Centro Giovanni XXIII“, which encourages studying and spirituality, spiritual exercises and retreats, experiences of communal and monastic life, vocational discernment, prayer meetings, studying, training, guidance, courses of preparation for Holy Communion, Confirmation and Marriage, chapters and assemblies of religious orders and congregations, international ecumenical commissions, conventions, conferences, holidays stays. The hospitality is offered to individuals, groups and families. The accommodation includes 24 rooms, all with private facilities, air conditioning and Wi-Fi service, access to the chapel, the library, meeting rooms of various sizes, friendly access for elderly and mobility impaired, heating, green spaces, religious assistance and daily Mass.
